Young Jeezy Plots North American Tour

Young JeezyHip-hop has been at the center of our collective culture for ages now. It's strange to think of live hip-hop on a large scale as being a recent development, but the truth is that even the most revered rap acts of the 90s rarely toured. The possibility of violence was deemed too great for most venues to get performance insurance for hip-hop concerts, and only the least threatening acts (think MC Hammer and Cypress Hill) ever took the stage in middle America.

Boy, how times have changed. The march of progress rolls on with the recent announcement of Young Jeezy's Spring concert series, an outing the rapper has dubbed "The Hustlerz Ambition Tour". The trek is in support of the recently released "Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition", which was originally announced in 2009, but has seen more than a dozen release dates come and go before finally seeing the light of day in late December. The record is sort of the hip-hop "Chinese Democracy".

No word has been released about whether any of the numerous guest stars that appear on the album will be accompanying Young Jeezy on any of the dates, but with a guest list that includes such notable stars as Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Trick Daddy, Jadakiss, Jill Scott, Andre 3000, Freddie Gibbs, Mitchelle'l and Future, it seems likely that someone will be along for the ride. Get ready, Quebec.
