Acclaimed British post-punk band Bloc Party made a surprise announcement today, confirming that a new album has been completed and a tour is in the works.

Four, the band's accurately titled 4th album, will hit stores August 21st. The record is already available for pre-order on the band's official website. The tour kicks off later this month, though only a handful of American shows have been announced.

The news comes after months of speculation (and sort-of confirmation) that the group had parted ways with lead singer/creative force Kele Okereke and were searching for a replacement.

"It's not really a secret because Kele's been pretty busy doing solo stuff and it looks like he's going to be doing that a bit longer," said guitarist Russell Lissack last year. "The other three of us wanted to meet up and make music. We were talking about just doing an instrumental thing, but now we might get a singer as well, to properly put some music out and play some shows."

From Okereke's blog:

"We started making this record in NY in the winter of 2011. we didn't want to let the world know so we told a lie that got out of hand but it made us laugh in the process, which brought us closer together."
