Taylor Hawkins, the frenetic Foo Fighters drummer, has officially been cast in CBGB. The film, focused on the early days of the iconic club that gave birth to punk rock, is set to begin shooting later this month.
Hawkins will be portraying legendary singer Iggy Pop, formerly of notorious proto-punk band Iggy and the Stooges. No word has been released on how much screen time the drummer might receive, but if Foo Fighters videos are any way to judge, it'll be something to watch.
Hawkins isn't the only notable name attached to the project. Alan Rickman is reportedly set to play CBGB owner Hilly Kristal, while Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory will portray Terry Ork, who was the manager of seminal band Television. Mickey Sumner will reportedly play Patti Smith.
As a side note, if you're located in Georgia, ACC Enterprises has sent out a casting call for "music lovers, musicians, motorcyclists, 70s car owners and people with a 70s look" to play extras in the film.
