This is getting a little ridiculous.
After Tupac Shakur's unexpected (and highly publicized) hologram comeback, the music world-at-large began pondering a few tantalizing What if's. Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Even Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez from TLC was rumored to be getting the digital ressurection treatment. If two new reports are to be believed, it's only going to get worse.
Jeff Jampol, who manages the estate of Jim Morrison, recently told Billboard that he's been plotting a holographic Lizard King for almost ten years.
“Hopefully, ‘Jim Morrison’ will be able to walk right up to you, look you in the eye, sing right at you and then turn around and walk away,” he said.
Janet Hendrix, sister of the legendary guitarist, is also working on a hologram.
“For us, of course, it’s about keeping Jimi authentically correct. There are no absolutes at this point,” she said.
While everyone seems to be jumping on this ghoulish bandwagon, most sources take great pains to point out that they have been working on the idea for a very long time. In fact, Queen guitarist Brian May was pretty miffed at Tupac for stealing Freddie Mercury's thunder.
“It’s a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we’ve been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while,” May told BBC News.
