The dance-pop geniuses that make up Passion Pit are finally releasing a followup to 2009's massively popular (and awesome) "Manners." The new album, dubbed "Gossamer" is due out July 24th. The Cambridge, Massachusetts band have already announced a handful of dates in support of the record, most of them festivals.

“On Gossamer there is more of a dichotomy between the lyrics and the music," said leader Michael Angelako. "You hear my lyrics more precisely which is something I was ready for. The lyrics on this album have a lot to say about what the last two years of my life have been troubled with."

Passion Pit formed in 2007, almost by accident. Angelako recorded an E.P. worth of songs on his laptop as a Valentine's Day present for his then-girlfriend. After performing the songs as a solo artist around Boston, people began to take notice. Angelako met up with Ian Hultquist, who suggested they form a band. A few of those Valentine's Day songs ended up on their debut album.

While you wait outside your local record store for "Gossamer" to be released, check out the official video for "Little Secrets", featuring the kids from the PS 22 chorus.
