Taylor Swift took home 3 more trophies at last night's American Music Awards, including the coveted "Artist Of The Year" award. This is the second time the 21 year-old country pop star has won the highest honor at the AMA's. Swift was also awarded "Favorite Country Album" for her most recent release, "Speak Now". This brings Swift's total up to 10 since beginning her career in 2006.

"This is one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me. Thank you to the fans, please never change. This is so crazy," Taylor said, in her typical cheery, enthusiastic way.

Nashville pop-rock outfit Hot Chelle Rae were given the "Favorite New Artist" award on the strength of their recent hit single "Tonight, Tonight." Guitarist for the group, Nash Overstreet, had this to say:

"I might have to give it to my parents as a Christmas present. It's definitely the biggest accomplishment for us as a band and it shows our hard work is paying off."

British soul singer Adele was awarded "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist", though she was unable to attend the ceremony. She is currently recovering from vocal cord surgery. She also won "Favorite Pop/Rock Album" for her recent smash "21."

The American Music Awards were created by "American Bandstand" host Dick Clark in 1973, as an alternative to the more conventional Grammy Awards. Instead of the traditional ballots cast by recording industry luminaries, the AMA's are awarded based on a survey of the record-buying public, leading some to speculate that they are a more accurate representation of popularity.
